Rising Nigerian Afro-fusion artist King Kenny lays his heart bare on “Don’t Let Me Down,” a moody street-pop single about trusting again after being hurt.
King Kenny drops all bravado and shows the scars from past wounds, then places his emotional safety in his partner’s hands. His words are open and urgent, using modern Nigerian street talk and Pidgin to show love as a high-stakes investment, not a casual game.
A heavy, throbbing bassline and crisp shaker-and-rimshot patterns move with weeping acoustic guitar riffs and atmospheric synth swells. The production holds back, giving the mid-tempo beat a gentle, hypnotic sway while keeping the story front and centre.
If you have ever been scared to love again, “Don’t Let Me Down” will feel close to home. Play it on a quiet night, or send it to someone who holds your heart.
